Fuel Cell Test Station up to 1kW
Ideally suited for research and development of large-area single cells or verification of stack design on short-stack level (up to 1kW). Well-defined and repeatable conditions of Leancat PTS-10 enable benchmarking of fuel cells also thanks to extensive scripting possibilities.

Nickel Foams and Meshes for Electrochemistry
Nickel foams and meshes provide a highly porous, conductive scaffold ideal for electrochemical research, from fundamental studies to prototype development. Their controlled pore size, thickness, and geometry allow researchers to tune active surface area, mass transport, and current distribution, enabling systematic studies in batteries, supercapacitors, electrocatalysis, and corrosion. These substrates are particularly useful as model electrodes or current collectors where reproducibility and well‑defined morphology are critical
Nickel‑based functional and composite foams
Beyond bare nickel, functionalized foams incorporate catalytic, conductive, or protective layers (metal oxides, noble metals, carbon materials, polymers) to create advanced architectures for materials screening. This family is well suited for testing new electrocatalysts for hydrogen or oxygen reactions, reference electrodes for EIS, or sensing layers under realistic 3D geometries. Researchers can use these composite foams to bridge the gap between thin‑film tests and application‑relevant, high–surface‑area structures.
Titanium and alternative metal foams
Titanium and other corrosion‑resistant metal foams extend experimental capabilities to aggressive environments where nickel is not suitable, such as strongly oxidizing, chloride‑rich, or high‑temperature conditions. Their combination of mechanical robustness, chemical stability, and open porosity makes them attractive for long‑term durability and corrosion studies, biocompatibility tests, and hydrogen technologies operating in demanding media. They are also valuable as neutral porous supports when the substrate must not interfere with the chemistry under investigation.

Porous structures for hydrogen and energy systems
Metal foams and meshes specifically tailored as electrodes, gas diffusion layers, and porous supports in hydrogen production, fuel cells, and other electrochemical energy devices. Researchers can explore the influence of porosity, tortuosity, and thickness on efficiency, overpotentials, and bubble management in electrolyzers, or on water and gas management in fuel cells. These materials align naturally with test rigs, potentiostats, and spectroscopic tools, facilitating integrated studies that couple structure, performance, and degradation.
LEANCAT Control Software
- At the core of LEANCAT control systems, there is an industrial PC from Beckhoff running TwinCAT 3 runtime.
- On request, access to the TwinCAT code can be provided enabling you to modify the PLC program.
- Measured data are safely stored in an SQL database. Logging of data is optimized both to save storage space and to reduce response time when working with large data sets of time series.
Depending on your preferences, you can interact with LEANCAT test stations in one or more of the following ways:
Graphical user interface (GUI)
- A simplified P&I diagram is used to show process values and controls in an interactive visualization
- Users can create their own customizable dashboard with widgets such as plots, data tables or gauges for measured values
Python scripting for the setup of automated tests
- Python is a widely used open source programming language
- Using this interface both test setup and post-processing of feasured data can be easily integrated in the testing process
